A mock presidential primary election will be held this week at Arizona State University in which officials say is part of efforts to encourage students to register to vote and participate in the state's for-real presidential primary.

The Secretary of State's Office says the mock primary will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday on the Tempe campus' Hayden Lawn.

Participating students will be able to select either a Republican or Democratic ballot to vote for one of the announced candidates, and Secretary of State Michele Reagan will announce the results on social media.

Arizona's presidential primary is scheduled for March 22, preceded by early balloting beginning on Feb. 24. The deadline to register to vote in time to vote in the presidential primary is Feb. 22.
