The Rural Metro Fire Department rescued a child locked in a car on Wednesday afternoon.

A mother reported her 9-month-old baby was locked inside a car, but the car was not running, near Ellsworth Road and University Drive in Mesa.

According to fire officials, the child was not showing signs of distress at this time.

The child was inside the car for 10 minutes and showed no adverse affects, officials said.

The child's mother called fire officials immediately, they said.
