Officials are investigating a deadly jet ski accident that happened Saturday morning at Canyon Lake.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, around 9:30 a.m. lake deputies were called out to the area after two water craft vehicles collided.

Deputies say Victor Figuero III and his brother were operating two personal watercrafts in the area of Elephant Rock at Canyon Lake.

Figuero was reportedly traveling directly in front of him while making back and forth maneuvers.

Figuero then lost control, causing his personal watercraft to turn sideways right in front of his brother's, causing him to be struck and thrown into the water.

The victim's brother tended to him until good Samaritans arrived on a pontoon boat and transported Figuero to the Canyon Lake aid station.

Figuero was pronounced dead an hour after the collision, according to deputies.

Authorities say there does not appear to be any negligence or reckless operation on the brother's part in the collision.

Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision, according to deputies.
