Fire officials say one person is dead after a serious crash in west Phoenix early Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the scene of the wreck near 51st Avenue and Jefferson Street before 6 a.m.
On scene, crews found that a Tahoe had rear-ended a flatbed trailer. Police say the driver was attempting to pass a semi-truck when they collided with the parked trailer on the south curb.
One victim, the driver of the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to fire officials.
Police are not yet releasing the victim's name.
