Phoenix police said the driver of a pickup which crashed into a fast-food restaurant Saturday night has died from his injuries.

Officers responded to the Whataburger near 32nd Street and Bell Road around 11 p.m. Police arrived to find a white pickup had left the roadway, hitting a sign before crashing into the exterior wall of the restaurant.

Investigators said the pickup was heading east on Bell when the driver, identified as 15-year-old Jesse Entzminger, lost control.

Entzminger died from his injuries. Two passengers, one of them an adult not related to the driver, in the pickup suffered minor injuries, police said. None of the three were wearing a seatbelt, according to law enforcement.

Police also said Enztminger did not have a driver's permit.

Speed and impairment are both being investigated as factors that may have contributed to the crash.

Police said those inside the Whataburger at the time of the crash were not hurt.
