A Phoenix man is accused of stealing his girlfriend's syringes and threatening her with a machete when she confronted him about it, according to court documents.

On the morning of Jan. 7, a woman noticed that her medical syringes were missing, according to police. She uses them to inject insulin.

When she confronted her boyfriend, Allen Gary French, 39, about it, he ran into a bedroom and locked himself inside, police said in their report.

He then came out of the bedroom holding a machete above his head threatening to kill his girlfriend and dog, documents say.

The woman was already on the phone with 911 and lowered the phone so the operator could hear the alleged threats, the victim told police, according to documents.

French then ran into a bedroom and locked himself inside again.

Police arrived and had to talk with French for 40 minutes when he finally surrendered. He was booked into jail for aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
