No one wants their cars stolen, but each year, experts tell us it happens to an estimated 17,000 people in Arizona alone.

But now, there is a little device that could make a huge difference if someone is trying to make off with your wheels.

Their commercials state, "no car has ever been stolen."

That's quite the claim, so we wanted to see what Ravelco's "little grey plug" was all about.

About a year and a half ago, Mike McCarter and his business partner started a Phoenix-area franchise.

The device is two parts: like the name suggests, a little grey plug, and also a socket that's installed in the car on the driver's side. That socket is connected to your engine's electric system.

"Without it, it won't start or run," explains McCarter.

It may seem simple, but McCarter says it was designed that way.

"It doesn't have any chips or computers that can be hacked or bypassed."

And it's different than other methods that are out there.

"A lot of people put a hidden cut off switch that just cuts off the start - but as soon as someone flips that switch, they can start it. They could just a run a quick wire underneath the hood and the starter operates."

The product and installation will cost you about $500.
