Police have shut down one direction of Northern Avenue after a car hit a pedestrian near 23rd Avenue.
Officers say the pedestrian was hospitalized in "extremely critical" condition.
Police closed the westbound lanes of Northern Avenue from east of where it passes over Interstate 17 to 23rd Avenue. That closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.
