Authorities say there is a history of children playing with fire at a home that burned Friday.

Phoenix Fire Department officials said crews have responded to the home near 22nd Street and Southern Avenue three times in the past year.

Last week, a woman and three children were hospitalized after a fire ignited in the kitchen.

The 76-year-old woman, who has asthma and is the caretaker for the children, remained in the burn center Monday.

Firefighters say the three children were hiding in a closet when the fire started, and are known to have played with fire in the past.

The children's mother says the kids have been placed with DCS because the caretaker could not care for the children while in the hospital.
