PHOENIX — The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network, more commonly known as CoCoRaHS, is actively recruiting volunteers to get rain gauges before the end of the month.

The community-based network has volunteers nationwide that observe and record their rain, hail, and snowfall totals daily, which is then plotted on the CoCoRaHS website for all to see.

Each year, a friendly competition called "March Madness" is held to get as many new volunteers as possible.

As of March 25, there have only been seven new stations in Arizona, while Minnesota has the lead with 104. Arizona did win the contest in 2016, picking up 192 new observers.
