Cars will not be able to access mountain preserves and desert parks within the city of Phoenix on Independence Day.
The city plans to close all gates at 3 p.m. on Monday to South Mountain Park, Phoenix Mountains Preserve, Camelback Mountain and other areas.

The city says it's trying to keep fire danger at a minimum.
A fire ban that began on May 22 also remains in effect.
