Efforts are already underway to maintain the mosquito population with fogging of specific Valley areas.
Officials decide to fog a quadrant for mosquitos requires one of two parameters to be met, according to the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department.:
- Specially placed traps need to capture more than 300 mosquitos
- Specially placed traps need to capture more than 30 Culex mosquitos (which have the ability to carry the West Nile Virus)
