PHOENIX — Arizona's typically sun-filled skies have been blanketed by wildfire smoke recently.
The record-setting fire season in California continues to result in thick smoke over the Southwest, resulting in hazy skies.
An extensive amount of smoke from West Coast wildfires can be seen on satellite this morning overspreading much of Arizona. We expect this to continue through today and potentially into the weekend. #azwx pic.twitter.com/EKaSAa7gHR

Although it looks ominous, air quality will not be greatly impacted by the smoke since it's elevated off the ground.
The smoke is also prohibiting sunlight from heating up the Valley floor, meaning temperatures will stay below 100 degrees.
The smoke will still linger through parts of Sunday, however, we expect improving sky conditions soon as a ridge of high pressure pushes the smoke away from the state.
