Help is on the way for Sacred Grounds Rescue Ranch in Wikieup thanks to the generosity of our ABC15 viewers.

Last month, we spoke with owner Robert Jessel, who said he needed to build a well in order to continue providing care to dozens of abused and neglected animals.

Jessel has been operating Sacred Grounds Rescue Ranch in a secluded area south of Wikieup since 2002.

He takes in abandoned and abused animals including horses, goats, llamas, sheep, ducks, chickens, and more.

Jessel had been able to use water from a neighbor's well, but it has recently dried up. Jessel has been hauling water from a neighbor's house in Wikieup, but after January 31st their agreement ended and he was on his own.

After our story aired, ABC15 viewers stepped up, donating over $20,000 to the animal rescue’s GoFundMeaccount.

Owner Robert Jessel wasted no time jumping into action. He contracted Brown’s Drilling to complete the work.

On February 3, they found a water source 750 feet below the earth, and have started building the well so that the animals can stay in their sanctuary for years to come.

A big thank you to our ABC15 community for helping save the animals in the rescue!
