Several cases have been confirmed in the county. Officials say everyone who recently contracted the flu is recovering.

The Arizona Department of Health Services say flu activity around the state has been sporadic.

Marie Peoples of the Coconino County health office says the best way to reduce the chance of getting the disease is an annual flu shot. Flu cases increase in the fall and winter months.

Health officials say people also should wash their hands frequently, cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing and avoid contact with others who are sick.
