New clothes line based in Scottsdale

Posted

Forget "Made in America." Three Valley women are taking it one step further, designing, producing, and selling their fashion line right here in the Valley!

"Everyone wants to open up a boutique and now it's happening,"

It's definitely happening for Brittany Garcia in her Old Town Scottsdale shop. "It feels amazing. It doesn't even feel like work."

Call it a labor of love. Her own fashion line -- a dream she's had since she was a little girl.

"The most rewarding part would be seeing the people wear your clothes," explains Karah Eaton, one of the masterminds behind 5-23, a clothing line named for she and Garcia's birthday, May 23.

The duo gave birth to the line almost three years ago, designed for the fashionable girl on the go.

"If I were to describe the overall style, I would say it's boho-chic resort wear. There's a vibe that's inspired by the 70s, but it's all comfortable, so no buttons, no zippers. It's easy to care for.

And the coolest part - it's all created right here in the Valley.

"We wanted to keep it here in Phoenix and have a relationship with our manufacturer," explains Eaton.

Flirty, fresh, and care-free.
"If something's not happy, we don't want to make it," explains Mary Swanson.
