PD: Man sets fire in Yuma, killed in Texas chase

A man is dead after setting off a smoke device in Yuma and crashing in Texas.

Yuma police responded to a report of a fire at a Walmart at 2501 S. Ave B on January 15.

According to Yuma police, 34-year-old Nicholas Saner set off a homemade smoke device inside the store during a shoplifting attempt.

Saner left the scene and the smoke device was take outside by an associate.

On January 21, Saner was killed in a crash in Sierra Blanca, Texas. He was a passenger in a stolen vehicle that was being pursued by officials when it collided with a semi-truck.
