A 39-year-old man detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement died Monday after collapsing outside a medical unit at its Florence Detention Center.

The man was identified by officials as Juan Garcia-Hernandez, 39, a Mexican national. He collapsed Monday afternoon following a meeting with medical staff.

He was taken to Florence Hospital at Anthem where he died. An autopsy is pending.

The Mexican Cosulate has been notified in order to contact next of kin.

ICE said Garcia-Hernandez was granted voluntary departure by Board of Immigration Appeals in March 2014, which required him to leave the U.S. within 60 days. He did not.

He was granted a one-year stay of removal in June 2014 for "humanitarian reasons," according to ice. When that expired, he was taken into custody on August 27.

He had a final order of removal and was waiting to be taken to Mexico.

This is the seventh detainee to die while in ICE custody during 2015 fiscal year.
