Phoenix PD: Hit-and-run driver shoots at person they crashed into

PHOENIX — Two suspects are in custody after a hit-and-run led to a shooting in downtown Phoenix Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to the area near 4th Avenue and Monroe around 12:30 p.m. for calls regarding a possible shooting.

According to police, a white car rear ended an SUV near 7th Street and Grand Avenue. Rather than staying on scene, the driver of the white car fled, according to police.

When the driver of the SUV decided to chase after the white car, a female passenger in the white car began shooting at the driver of the SUV.

The chase ended near 4th Avenue and Monroe, where the female passenger of the white car continued to shoot at the SUV driver.

The victim’s shoulder was grazed with a bullet. Police said he was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The male driver and female passenger of the white car were taken into custody. Police have not released their identities at this time.
