ABC15’s Danielle Lerner got the inside scoop on a brand new contest ahead of this year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Kids submit a video, including three words that spell out how to kindle a love for reading. Five winners get an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to watch the spelling bee in May.
“This is another opportunity for kids who might not be so great at spelling, but they are really great with video and love to tell stories,” said Valerie Miller, spokesperson for the Scripps National Spelling Bee. “We really want that literacy and that early reading to motivate and inspire others.”
