Debt collector calls, calls from imposters and identity theft topped the list of consumer complaints last year gathered by the Federal Trade Commission.
You can avoid most of the scams by doing three things:
- Letting calls going to voicemail.
- Don't wire money, send moneypak or read gift card numbers to strangers.
- checking out caller claims or business reputations online before handing over any money.
