Tired of your job? Are you looking for a new one? How do you stand out from the thousands of others applying for the same position?

The job-hunting site Jobing.com says first you need to research a company that interests you. Check out their careers page, social media and reference things you connect with in your customized cover letter.

Also since referrals are so important, reach out to friends, family, and Linkedin contacts.

Try to find the recruiter for the business. Let them know why you're passionate about the business and what you can do for them.

And if an employer does contact you, is it a scam?

If they only communicate by instant messaging, offer a job with no interview, send emails with grammatical errors or won't talk to you that's (most likely) a red flag.

And if they send you a big check for work you haven't done yet, it's for sure a big scam.
