I've been hearing a lot about free government grant money lately.

Shirley let me know someone posing as a Facebook friend promises grants if you pay her.

Elizabeth says she gets "dozens of calls about grants."

The government will never call you about grants.

And you should never pay to get one.

Which brings me to the Grant Assist Resources Center in Surprise.

TheBetter Business Bureau gives them an F because of complaints they charge people to get grants that don't materialize.

One BBB complaints says the person paid $2800 and got nothing.

Another said she paid $2940 to get a $42,000 grant that never came.

You can see a long list of legitimate government grants at grants.gov.

But they are for very specific needs.

You must qualify and you will never see money available to spend any way you want.
