3 cheap ways to see if your water has high lead

First we heard about Flint, Michigan.

 

Now we're hearing about places around the country with high lead levels in their water.

 

So, what about your water? Do you have lead pipes?

 

If you don't know, take a coin and scratch the water pipe coming into your home near the meter.  

 

If it's lead, it will be soft, easy to scrape down to shiny silver. 

 

Steel, copper, or plastic will not scrape down to silver.

 

Also, you can buy cheap water test kits for lead and other minerals.

 

And check out your cities water testing results.
