Gilbert Company Getting Into the Paper Straw Business

Posted at 1:02 PM, Sep 07, 2018

Footprint LLC is an organization dedicated to creating alternatives to plastic products.

The organization has been working on new ways to create next generation molded fiber packaging to replace plastic for a reasonable cost.

Now, they announced they are moving towards creating paper alternatives as well.

Although we recycle plastic, it does little good for the environment. Plastic is made to last for a long time. It is not biodegradable and can be very harmful to sea life should it end up in the ocean.

Troy Swope and partner Yoke Chung realized this and began their journey to making a difference. They hope to start with straws.

“We’re building a manufacturing facility that can expand up to about 20 billion paper straws, but we’re currently focused on about 5 billion annually,” he said in a report by KTAR

They aim to replace straws as well as plastic plates and bowls and have manufacturing agreements with other companies such as Walmart. This collaboration will make paper bowls and plates for prepackaged items.

The company resides in Gilbert, AZ at 1510 N. Hobson St.
