Police arrest the person they say is responsible for a collision that pinned two teenage girls between the two vehicles.
Court records show that the man responsible was under the "extreme influence of alcohol" at the time of the collision, which occurred on October 25, around 10:30 P.M., near 28th Avenue and Cactus Road.
Phoenix police say four teens were riding in a vehicle when they ran out of gas just west of Interstate 17 on Cactus Road. Mindy Markle, 16, and another 16-year-old girl got out of the vehicle to push it to a nearby gas station when they were struck from behind by a vehicle.
Police report that 54-year-old Vincent Edward Vaughn was driving that vehicle. Vaughn was also injured and taken to the hospital. The blood draw they did at the hospital, reportedly showed his blood alcohol content at .231, nearly three times the legal limit.
Police say Vaughn has two prior convictions for extreme DUI.
The teens were reportedly pinned by the other car and were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Police say it's possible that both of the teens may lose a leg.
Markle had to undergo surgery to get a metal plate but into her leg, according to sources.
The other two teens in the car were not injured.
Police say the teen's vehicle had it's headlights and emergency flashers on at the time of the crash.
Vaughn has been charged with aggravated assault and endangerment.
Markle's boyfriend has sent up a GoFundMe account to go towards her medical expenses.
