An admitted methamphetamine user says he was hearing voices when he stabbed a man eight times in Mesa.
Mesa police report that 20-year-old Gregorio Munoz Jr. was arrested after allegedly stabbing another man eight times on February 6.
Police say the victim was walking through a Fry's parking lot near a bus stop in Mesa when he was attacked from behind by Munoz.
The victim suffered seven stab wounds to his abdomen and one to his forearm. He was taken to a trauma intensive care unit for treatment.
The victim and witnesses gave a description of Munoz, who was later found by police in the area.
Police say Munoz had a pocket knife in his possession that had dried blood on it. That blood is being tested for DNA evidence.
Munoz, a diagnosed schizophrenic, reportedly admitted to using meth for years, and was hearing voices at the time of the attack.
Munoz has been charged with aggravated assault.
