A Mesa woman was assaulted in the middle of then night by a stranger who forced her way into her home.

Court documents show that on March 16, at around 3 a.m. the victim awoke to hear 28-year-old Andrea Leigh Lucio pounding on her upstairs neighbors apartment door, at their home near University drive and Gilbert Road.

The victim alerted her fiance, who got up out of bed and opened the door. The fiance told police that Lucio pushed right passed him, went straight into the bedroom and started yelling obscenities and punching the victim.

The fiance came into the room and managed to get Lucio off the victim and push her out of the apartment.

Police arrested Lucio, who did not answer questions, but asked for an attorney. Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the attack.

The victim suffered scratches and a black eye.

Lucio is facing charges of assault and criminal trespassing.
