Argument leads to samurai-style sword attack outside of Phoenix apartment

Police say a man turned himself in after reportedly attacking another man with a samurai-style sword.

Court records show that on July 5, a man turned himself in to Phoenix police after allegedly using a the sword to attack a man. The victim was hospitalized with large cuts, a broken arm and a skull fracture. 

Police report that on June 27, Damian Lee Sickler, 38, got into an argument with his girlfriend's uncle at his apartment near 30th Street and Osborn Road. 

The victim went outside and was followed by Sickler as he climbed out of his bedroom window with a samurai-style sword.

Sickler reportedly swung the sword, hitting the victim's arm as he tried to defend himself. The blow gave the victim a large cut and broke his arm near the elbow.

The victim tried to run away, but was struck again on the side of the head, giving him another large cut and skull fracture.

Sickler ran away from the area but turned himself in to Phoenix police a week later.

Sickler has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
