The U.S. Department of Justice has filed lawsuits against a Scottsdale-based company as well as four other firms for allegedly carrying out hundreds of millions of fraudulent robocalls aimed at the elderly and other vulnerable consumers.

Federal officials said the lawsuits were filed against five companies and three individuals after numerous warnings related to the robocalls that allegedly facilitated foreign-based fraud schemes targeting Americans.

Most calls originated from India and led to “massive financial losses” for the victims, Department of Justice officials said in a statement.

Tollfreedeals.com and SIP Retail are the Scottsdale businesses named in one of the lawsuits, along with Arizona residents Nicholas Palumbo, 38, president and founder of Ecommerce National, and Natasha Palumbo, 33, the CEO and founder of SIP Retail.
