A 15-year-old California girl was told that her hours-old baby boy had been surrendered, but the infant was later found to be buried in the family's backyard, according to court documents obtained by Scripps station 23ABC.

Court documents state that around 8:46 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26, Bakersfield police were dispatched to a location after a 15-year-old girl had informed her student counselor that her father, 47-year-old Jagsir Singh , had allegedly threatened to marry her away and to kill her.

During an interview with police, the girl told officers she was in her room when Singh allegedly came in and began to yell at her for the house being dirty. The teen told police that she was usually disciplined by being hit in the face. She also said that when Singh would get mad, he allegedly would threaten to cut her up into pieces.

During the interview, the teen reportedly told the officer she gave birth in November 2018 to a baby boy in her southwest Bakersfield home. The teen told the officer that after she gave birth, the last thing she heard was her baby crying before she "knocked out." The teen told the officer that she was told the baby had been taken somewhere to be adopted.

According to the documents, after the birth, the victim's mother, 43-year-old Beant Kaur Dhillon allegedly stepped on the baby boy's face twice before placing him in a garbage bag and drowning him. Singh then allegedly buried the baby in the backyard.

Dhillon allegedly told police that the baby was stillborn when she buried him. Dhillon also allegedly told police she never heard the baby cry.

On February 25, according to documents, the victim's brother told her that her baby was buried in the backyard. The brother allegedly pointed at the backyard and began to laugh. Dhillon allegedly gave the boy a "look" and he told his sister he was kidding.

During an interview, the victim told police that she did not know who the father of her baby was. Court documents show that the victim also told officers she became pregnant after a consensual sexual encounter with an older high school student. According to the court documents, the victim allegedly told Dhillon she was raped by a white male in the locker room at school. The victim reportedly told Dhillon that she had told a teacher what happened.

According to court documents, in an interview, Singh told police he was "90% certain" his nephew, 23-year-old Bakhshinderpal Singh Mann , fathered the child. Singh allegedly told police he believed Singh and his daughter were "more than cousins" and "did not believe the rape allegation."

Singh allegedly told police Mann had buried the baby in the backyard, not Dhillon.

Dhillon has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of the newborn. Mann is also wanted in connection with the baby's death. Mann has been charged with felony accessory to murder and still remains at-large.

Singh faced charges of accessory to the baby's death. He was arrested then bailed out. Last week, Bakersfield police responded to the same home where the baby was buried for reports of a suicide. The Kern County Coroner later determined that the man found was Singh . The Coroner also determined that Singh's cause of death was suicide by hanging.
