Soon there will be a new donut on the bakery shelves at Bashas'.
The Valley grocery store held a contest to find the next donut flavor ahead of National Donut Day, Friday, June 2. Kids were able to come up with a flavor and submit to the store.
More than 100 entries were submitted and 13 finalists were named. After votes from Bashas' Facebook page were calculated, a winner has been named...the "Pancake Donut."
It's a maple cream-filled donut topped with glaze, cinnamon, powdered sugar and bacon crumbles. Mmmm! It was submitted by nine-year-old Austen of Litchfield Park.
The Pancake Donut will be available for purchase at all Bashas' stores beginning Friday and throughout the month.
The "Holy Cannoli" donut took second place, and the "Caramel Apple Fritter" took third place, the grocery store said. The "Majestic, Unitastic, Pop In Your Mouth" Donut won "People's Choice."
