In need of some depth at the cornerback position, the Arizona Cardinals agree to a trade for fourth-year pro Marcus Cooper in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday.

Cooper, a seventh-round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2013, has played in 39 games and made 11 starts in the NFL, all with the Chiefs. He played in nine games last season.

Cooper has three interceptions and 69 total tackles in his pro career.

The Cardinals agreed to trade an undisclosed conditional 2018 NFL Draft pick to the Chiefs in exchange for Cooper.

The Cardinals lost veteran cornerback Mike Jenkins for the season due to an ACL injury he suffered in Sunday's preseason game at the Houston Texans. They also parted ways with CB Alan Ball due to injury concerns.

The Cards will likely start fifth-year pro Justin Bethel or rookie Brandon Williams at cornerback opposite five-time Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson to open the regular season. Jerraud Powers, who started opposite Peterson last season, signed with the Baltimore Ravens during the offseason.
