The family of a man who died in a wrong-way crash over the weekend on the Loop 303 is speaking out.

"I don't understand how you can just get on the freeway and continuously drive seeing lights come at you and not think, 'Maybe I should pull over,'" said Vanessa Ruiz.

The family of 32-year-old crash victim Christopher John Ruiz is angry at wrong-way driver Robert Andrew Cadman.

"Him being irresponsible took someone away from us," said Vanessa Ruiz.

According to DPS, Cadman was driving northbound in the southbound lanes on the Loop 303 near Bell Road on Sunday morning. He collided head-on with Ruiz. Both men died at the scene.

"I was very angry when I found out it was a wrong-way driver," said Michelle Ruiz. "He was such a huge part of everybody's life."

DPS hasn't ruled out impairment for either driver, but the Ruiz's don't believe Christopher John Ruiz was driving under the influence.

"My brother is a victim here," Vanessa Ruiz said. "My brother was just trying to get home."
