Here is a story that shows human kindness still exists.
ABC15 viewer Christopher needed some help getting to his job on Tuesday morning.
Christopher posted on the ABC15 Facebook page that he had a tough life. He had a drug addiction and eventually became homeless.
After reaching rock bottom, he was able to get into rehab and land a job at a Tempe car wash.
Christopher said even though he had a job, he struggled to make it to work because he did not have a car.
Well, Christopher’s hard work paid off because he was promoted within three days.
This morning was his first day opening the car wash alone; he knew he could not be late.
Christopher said he missed all of the city busses, so he kept walking towards work. As he was walking, he saw Tempe Officer Francisco Coronado and told him his situation.
Without missing a beat, Officer Coronado drove Christopher to work because he wanted Christopher to keep his job.
Christopher said he cried in the back seat of the police vehicle because he has no one to support him in Arizona.
“To know that this guy was ensuring that I had my job, and I wasn’t going to let anybody down, it meant a lot," said Young, who spoke to ABC15.
Lt. Mike Pooley, a spokesman for the Tempe Police Department, said he wasn't surprised this was Officer Coronado, calling him a reflection of what police should be.
“I talked to Officer Coronado this morning, and he just kind of smiled about it, laughed about it, and he said, 'Hey, I was just doing what anybody else would’ve done," Pooley said.
But the simple gesture mean the world to Young.
“I just want that cop to know that I appreciate him more than he knows," Christopher Young said.
"Thank you so much Mr. Coronado. Your impact on my life will never be forgotten," he added.
