Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a shooting in Mesa Tuesday afternoon.
A suspect was detained at the scene near University and Stapley drives, Det. Nik Rasheta said.
Authorities said they are investigating the case as a homicide.
The suspect and victim, both men in their 50s, were apparently friends, Rasheta said. The shooter called and notified police of the shooting.
The reason, if any, for the shooting was not immediately clear, Rasheta said.
The suspect’s father lives at the scene of the shooting, neighbors told police. The father was not involved the incident, Rasheta said.
Officials are not looking for any other suspects, however the investigation is ongoing.
