Officials say a pedestrian was hit by a small pickup truck headed westbound on Southern Avenue with no headlights on. The crash happened just before 9 p.m. between 40th and 41st avenues.

Witnesses say the truck driver stopped at the scene for a short time to check on the injured pedestrian but left the scene. The victim suffered multiple broken bones and is in critical condition at the hospital.

The suspect is described as a white man, 165 pounds, 5 feet, 9 inches tall with short, dark hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt over a muscle shirt and blue Dickies-style pants.

Officials say the suspect's truck may have damage to the driver's side of the vehicle.
