The Phoenix Police Department is looking for a party-goer who opened fire on officers in south Phoenix overnight.

Police say around 2:45 a.m., officers were responding to calls of a party involving young attendees at a home near 39th Avenue and Baseline Road.

Two officers, a 49-year-old sergeant and a 27-year-old officer, pulled up to the home in an unmarked police car and saw a fight going on in the front area of the house. That's when a man fired rounds from what police believe was a rifle or shotgun at the officers. Police say the 27-year-old officer, who was a passenger in the vehicle, returned fire.

The gunmen fled from the area but was described as a light-skinned man with a "long gun."

The sergeant, who has been with the Phoenix police force for 15 years, and the officer, who has been with the department for two years, were not injured.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Phoenix Police Department.
