Officials are investigating an apparent drive-by shooting in south Phoenix.

The incident happened near Central Avenue and Baseline Road around 5:45 p.m. on Friday.

Phoenix fire said two victims have been transported to the hospital. Both of the victims are men in their 30s.

The victims were shot at another location and drove to urgent care to try and get help.

“He was covered in blood,” said witness James Marrell. “He needed help. He was shot in his stomach and he was shot in his forearm. And the passenger was also shot.”

Marrell heard the gunshots and saw the driver of the SUV swerving all over the road. He followed, to make sure the victims got the help they needed.

“I just wanted to help the guy when I saw him driving,” said Marrell. “You don't want someone on the road like that, you know if your mom or dad is out on the road. I just wanted to help him.”

The victim collapsed on the lawn of the urgent care at the Mountain Park Health Center as families were coming and going.

The whole area was put on lockdown as a precaution.

“We thought what if someone in here had a gun?” said Marlin Alvarez, who works at the clinic. “We were pretty concerned about that because we had kids in there. It was pretty scary.”

Employees kept their patients inside and quickly shut the doors.

“We were locked down,” said Alvarez. “They told us we couldn't get out of the facility. They told us it was too dangerous until a perimeter was safe before they us out.”

The two men who were shot have non-life threatening injuries. No word on if this was a random attack or if they were targeted. Police are looking for the shooter who they say was driving a blue Porsche Cayenne SUV.
