The Phoenix Police Department is searching for a man who grabbed a girl Wednesday morning near her school.

Officials said the 12-year-old victim was walking to Copper Canyon Elementary School, near Tatum Boulevard and Bell Road, around 8 a.m. when a strange man approached her, said something incoherent and briefly grabbed her.

The girl told police that she was able to pull away and run toward a group of her friends.

The suspect is described as a skinny white man, between 20 and 30 years old, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, wearing dark pants, a blue or gray shirt and orange knit ski cap, and without any facial hair.

School officials said there was a four-door, silver car parked at the park where the incident happened, but the victim is unsure whether it was the assailant’s car.

Paradise Valley Unified School District officials said they have notified parents of the incident and are asking them to talk to their children about the dangers of talking to strangers.
