Phoenix police have identified the woman killed on State Route 51 on Wednesday night.

Officials said 49-year-old Dinya Farmer was shot and killed while driving near the mini-stack on Wednesday.

According to police, detectives determined the victim was followed from the area of 7th Avenue and Broadway Road and onto the freeway.

Police believe this increased the likelihood that the crime may be related to an incident prior to the shooting.

Police said Farmer was shot by an occupant who was traveling in another vehicle. There were three suspects, all described as Hispanic men, in the white pick-up truck at the time of the shooting.

“The car veered over to the left and hit the wall, and I couldn’t see her anymore,” said Jason Carson, a driver who witnessed the shooting.

Police are looking for the white truck with ladder racks attached to it and a toolbox in the back in connection to the shooting. They believe the vehicle may have exited on Thomas Road, but it has not yet been located.

The white truck was driving aggressively prior to the shooting, officials said. Police did stop several vehicles in the area but none were connected to the shooting.

Police also added that several collisions involving four vehicles related to the shooting also happened in the area. Two people traveling in one of those vehicles were taken to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

Anyone with information should contact Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS or the Phoenix Police Department.
