Authorities in Yuma say a Yuma County sheriff's deputy shot a person while responding to a report of domestic violence.

The Yuma Police Department is investigating the Tuesday evening incident and says the deputy involved was not injured.

Police also said the wounded person was transported to a hospital but a Police Department spokeswoman, Sgt. Lori Franklin, said she had no additional information on the person's wounds or status.

That person's identity was not released.

A Sheriff's Office spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for information about circumstances of the shooting or the status of the person who was shot.
