Tucson police are searching a south side neighborhood for a man whom they say sexually assaulted a woman.

The Tucson Police Department says it happened around noon Wednesday near Tucson Boulevard and Commerce Center Place.

Police say a woman was walking home from the store with an infant and stroller when she was approached by man. The man had a gun and forced her off the sidewalk, where he then assaulted her.

Authorities say the baby in the stroller was not hurt. The woman is being evaluated at the hospital.

Police used a helicopter and officers on the ground to search for the suspect.

According to Mary Veres, spokesperson with Sunnyside Unified School District, some schools were put on lockdown due to the police activity.  Los Amigos Elementary School was placed on lockdown for several hours.
