Authorities have identified the suspect killed by Pinal County deputies late Friday night.

On Sunday, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said the man killed by law enforcement was 55-year-old Bender Dass, of San Tan Valley.

Deputies opened fire on Dass after he tried to hit a deputy with his vehicle, authorities said.

PCSO initially responded for a report of a hit-and-run crash in San Tan Valley. A Maricopa County deputy responded to the original report, and joined the pursuit once the suspect vehicle was located.

Law enforcement said the truck, driven by Dass, had extensive damage in connection with the crash and started driving erratically near the intersection of Combs and Rittenhouse.

That is where PCSO says Dass hit a deputy's patrol car and drove straight at a sergeant, causing three deputies to fire their weapons.

Dass was declared dead at the scene.
