A Glendale couple was arrested after they allegedly stole about $200,000 from eight Homeowners' Associations across the Valley.
Scottsdale police report that in December of 2016 the chief executive officer of 'The Management Trust' was alerted by an HOA president to a $53,000 discrepancy in their bank account.
'The Management Trust,' located near Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Loop 101, manages accounts for multiple HOA's across the Valley.
As the CEO investigated, he reportedly found several invoices for the HOA that were generated by 45-year-old John Michael Fewer.
The invoices were issued for work that was never done and never authorized, according to the HOA president. The checks associated with those invoices were issued to Fewer’s husband, 37-year-old David Neil McArthur. Police say McArthur does not work for the HOA or the management company.
Further investigation allegedly revealed that Fewer and McArthur had been stealing money from the HOA's for about two years, accumulating about $200,000.
They were arrested on June 22 at their home in Glendale.
They have been charged with fraudulent schemes.
