A heated argument between supermarket co-workers turned violent after one man struck the other with a meat cleaver, police said.

According to Peoria police, 45-year-old Luc T Do and a co-worker were arguing over stocking some items in the store. The argument got heated so they moved to the back of the store.

As they continued to argue in the meat area, the victim turned away from Do and began to walk away. Do then allegedly took a meat cleaver and struck the victim in the back, with the dull side of the cleaver. He then continued his assault by kicking the victim in the stomach and back.

A store manager stopped the assault, telling Do to leave. He then assisted the victim to the urgent care facility next door.

The store manager later told police that Do said, "I wanted to kill him," as he walked out of the store.

Do was arrested later that day. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
