This is your last-minute reminder that Mother’s Day is no longer around the corner, but straight ahead.

(So you don't have to look it up, it's Sunday, May 8).

Instead of touting the typical gift ideas like flowers, chocolates, spa packages or breakfast in bed (which is always adorable when the kids make it), we tried think of some out-of-the-box ideas.

Whether you’re on a budget or not, here’s some not-so-typical Mother’s Day ideas:

TAKE A SPIN AROUND THE TRACK

Vroom! Vroom! Why not take mom on an adrenaline-laced adventure around the race track. She’ll either have a blast or scream, which in case you’ll have fun laughing (and creating a long-lasting memory).

Some racing places include Octane Raceway, K1 Speed or Cracker Jax. You’ll want to check their websites for race times and prices.

GO ROCK CLIMBING (SAFELY OF COURSE)

Take Mother’s Day (and your mom) to new heights and rock climb. If you don’t have the gear to go rock climbing on Arizona’s mountains there are a bunch of gyms with huge rock climbing walls. Even better, they have orientation sessions to help you be a good climber and belayer.

Some Valley places include AZ on the Rocks, The Phoenix Rock Gym, Climbmax Climbing or Focus Climbing Center.

MOTHER’S DAY AT BUTTERFLY WONDERLAND

Celebrate mom and all her love while surrounded by over 3,000 butterflies. Butterfly Wonderland is hosting a ”Mommy and Me” event on Mother’s Day. There will be discounted admission and all moms will receive a free gift. Click here for details.

GONDOLA BOAT RIDE

You may not be able to take mom to Venice, but on a Gondola she can have a little piece of it. If you didn’t know, the Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch has nightly Gondola rides year-round. They’re reasonably priced between $5 and $10 per person. Click here for more information.

THUNDER DOWN UNDER

Mom might remember this Mother’s Day for a while if you take her to Thunder Down Under. The guys will be at Talking Stick Resort from May 5 to 7. Click here for tickets and show times.

Obviously there are more ideas out there so if you think of one let us know in the comments.
