Fresh off the heels of their best season in franchise history and a critically acclaimed Amazon documentary, the Arizona Cardinals are a football team on the rise.

It's certainly not a shock that those feats have translated into significant monetary gain.

The Cardinals came in at No. 42 overall on Forbes' 2016 list of the World's 50 Most Valuable SportsTeamsrevealed Wednesday.

Forbes estimates the Cardinals' worth at $1.54 billion, an incredible 54 percent increase from last year. The franchise didn't make last year's top 50 list.

The Cards, however, have quite a ways to go to catch the world's most valuable franchise, the Dallas Cowboys, who Forbes values at an even $4 billion. The New England Patriots are world's the second most valuable NFL team and sixth most valuable overall, at $3.2 billion.

The Cards are still in the bottom half of all NFL teams in terms of overall value, as they came in as the 20th most valuable franchise in the league.

Other notable NFL teams on the list are the San Francisco 49ers (No. 10, $2.7 billion), the Seattle Seahawks (No. 32, $1.87 billion) and the Carolina Panthers (No. 40, $1.56 billion). NFL teams comprised 27 of the 50 teams on this year's list.
