Chandler native James Rallison has a unique perspective on the world.

“This was a comic I thought, ‘oh yeah, this would be funny.’ Spiderman takes off his helmet or mask, and it’s actually another Abraham Lincoln. And they go for a kiss and then people say, ‘The only way you can get Lincoln’s to face each other is if they’re sort of like, Spiderman kissing,'” said Rallison.

Rallison started drawing comics and sketches at 16. He eventually started posting them on YouTube and there, they racked up views.

“I was like, ‘Mom, look how much money I made today,'” said Rallison.

James dropped out of college to make YouTube videos full time. His channel TheOdd1sOut has more than 9 million followers

“The first video I ever made was called ‘A Book I Made as a Kid.’ In elementary school, we were assigned to write a book and the book I made was called,  ‘I do not like this family.’ My family is great, but it was just an interesting story,” said Rallison.

Rallison’s creative space, where he’s running a profitable YouTube channel, is a simple workstation in his bedroom.

His most viewed video, with 20 million-plus views is a story about a boy who finds a pet moth.

Raillison’s channel has such a fan-base, he’s moving to Glendale, Calif., a hub of creativity for people who have found success on YouTube.

His advice, “Follow your dreams but have a backup plan.”
