Some Valley residents are sharing their tips on how to schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine from Walgreens.

Various Walgreens locations have been given a handful of doses through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 vaccinations. This week, appointments on Friday and Saturday were booked up quickly, and currently show no available appointments.

"It’d say there were appointments available but then when you clicked on it it said, ‘oops there aren’t any appointments available,'" said Bev Grassy, who received her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine from Walgreens on Saturday. Grassy said the key to finding an appointment is simple, keep refreshing the website page. "I’m very glad I’ve gotten it."

The same tip comes from Susanne Solmes, who constantly refreshed the available appointment page on the Walgreens website before winning the so-called "appointment lottery."

"Luckily after about seven appointment times, I got in," said Solmes.

Debbie from Sun City West said she found luck signing up friends online by using a computer and advises against using a phone or tablet to register. She told ABC15 that Walgreens will have new appointment times at Tuesday at 6 a.m. or Wednesday at 6 a.m.

One Walgreens pharmacy told ABC15 that "supply is not 100 percent guaranteed." Adding the pharmacy is unsure how many appointments will be available in the next week because the amount of vaccines given to that particular location is unknown.

According to Pharmacists at the Walgreens 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Central Phoenix, one hundred vaccines are given to that location, and appointments will be available on Friday and Saturday.

CVS is also scheduled to be part of this new pharmacy rollout. but when we touched base with CVS, but they didn't have a timetable for when operations could begin in Arizona.
